Before I became an Integrated Art Major at Landmark College, I was earning my General Studies Degree at an Associates level, still at Landmark College. I have been at Landmark College for a considerable amount of time. This year, I am about to finish my fourth year at this college. Since my first year here, I have learned a lot about myself along the way. One of those things being is that if I am given feedback on how to better enhance my work, I am more receptive to the feedback I get. Before becoming an Integrated Art Major, I used to be terrified of critiques. However, the more experience I got with them, the more I started accepting, applying and internalizing the feedback I got. One other thing I learned about being an Integrated Art Major, is I have observed myself as someone who needs to be challenged in order to see noticeable improvement in whatever I create and possibly take those creations to the stage, which brought me to appreciate honest critiques, and reshaped how I view them now, as I had mentioned earlier.
One other thing I used to be terrified of as an Integrated Art Major was the idea of writing and performing my original work. I could never see myself being on stage for the longest time. However, the more experience I got with it, the more comfortable I got doing things that were out of the ordinary for me; with that in mind, I have developed a significant soft spot for the Performing Arts; particularly, Solo Performance Theater, one of my personal favorite genres in the Performing Arts. Only being in a couple of performing arts classes, I have become less fearful of the spotlight and have learned to embrace and enjoy it whenever it is on me. I honestly believe that my previous and current experience with theater is what helped me mold the person I am today. If I never had taken theater, I don’t think I would have developed this confidence that I am incredibly grateful for.
