Submitting Content to LC Voices

We’re always willing to accept student content submissions for our website and magazine. Please take the time to read our guidelines below for content submission. Once ready, you may use the email below to submit pieces. We accept written entries from poetry, short stories, opinion articles, and art submissions, including fine arts like paintings, drawings, sculptures (pictures), photography, and more.

Guidelines for Submission

All content submitted for consideration of publication to LCVoices.com and/or Voices magazine must:

• Be submitted by the student author or creator (or one of the authors if there is more than one).
• Be original work
• Comply with all Landmark College handbook and administrative policies, including the RUSH (Respect, Understanding, Safety, and Honesty) Principles
• Not contain any statements that are defamatory, libelous, or knowingly false (hoax).
• Not violate copyright, trademark, or privacy laws. Follow fair use guidelines.
  • LC Voices will only publish images, art, or content that:
    • The submitter created and owns full rights to.
    • Has written permission to publish.
    • Has a Creative Commons license.
    • Is in the public domain.
  • Prohibited Material
    • Images copied from search engines or news outlets.
    • Stock photos without proof of a valid license.
    • Social media posts without written authorization.
    • Logos or branding that may result in trademark infringement.

News/Journalism

For non-fiction, there are additional guidelines that any submission must follow:

• Be accurate and fact-based
• Clearly separate fact from opinion
• Provide context to the story
• Declare conflicts of interest
• Provide supporting sources/links
• Minimize harm
• Avoid plagiarism
• Offer a platform of defense when applicable
• Be Accountable for corrections

Be ready to provide source verification upon request

Opinion Pieces

Requirements for opinion pieces:

• Avoid personal attacks and defamatory or unverified claims
• Support arguments with reasoning and, when applicable, sources
• Disclose any conflicts of interest

Art Submissions

• All submissions must be submitted by the original artist.
• No gratuitous or excessive depictions of violence or sexual violence.
• Avoid harassment or targeted harm of any individual or group.
• Art that may be considered discriminatory or dehumanizing against any specific demographic will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Include context for any political or social commentary.

Submissions involving nudity will be reviewed based on artistic context and must comply with college standards. We do not accept submissions that are partially or fully generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

LC Voices reserves the right to remove or modify previously published content if it is later found to violate policy, copyright law, or college standards.

Publication Rights

By submitting content to LCVoices, you affirm that:

• You own full legal rights or hold a license to submit the material.
• Understand that submissions may be edited for clarity and formatting
• Acknowledge that LC Voices may remove content if later found to violate our policies

By submitting to LCVoices, you (as the author) grant LC Voices a non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Publish, display, and distribute the content in print and digital formats;
• Reproduce the content on lcvoices.com and affiliated platforms;
• Promote the submission on social media, in print, and for promotional purposes;
• Hold a copy of the submission indefinitely.
• Create derivative works for promotional or editorial purposes (Including but not limited to excerpts, formatting adjustments, graphic overlays, audio readings, or multimedia adaptations)
• Use your content to market LC Voices and other Landmark College student media initiatives.

This license is granted without monetary compensation. The author retains full ownership of their work and may publish it elsewhere unless noted otherwise in writing.
