The Center For Women and Gender (CWAG) will be holding a conversation about Imane Khelif. Participants will discuss who the women’s boxing Olympics athlete is and her importance. Recently, she has garnered controversy over her gender and victory against Italian opponent Angela Carini in the 2024 French Olympics. Despite Khalif’s confirmed biological sex as female, misinformation has been widespread about her gender identity. In the past, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to include Khalif in Olympics women’s boxing due to false findings of XY chromosomes. The event will be located in the basement of Frost Hall at the Center for Women and Gender and it is occurring on September 25 from 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Goodies including hot chocolate, snacks, and coloring are provided alongside the event.
