Look up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Superhero Night! Coming to you faster than a speeding bullet. With an amazing array of superhero films to watch, it’s a great way to chill, relax, and have a good time. Once the movie is over, as this is an event sponsored by Landmark College’s Center for Neurodiversity, there will be a small discussion about how the amazing heroes and their trusty sidekicks relate to Neurodiversity. One example of how superheroes relate to neurodiversity is how they learn their powers during their origin stories just like how we as neurodiverse individuals learn to accept ourselves. Not only will there be some amazing superhero movies, but also some great superhero TV shows as well.

The reason I have decided to create this event which is known as Superhero night because I have not only been a superhero fan all my life since I was a small one year old boy, but also because I see a lot in superheroes that other people wouldn’t normally think about. Superheroes are not just characters that are popular in comics, TV, movies, and video games, they are something that people look up to. To me, they are a symbol of neurodiversity and that we don’t have to be afraid to be ourselves. Superheroes don’t exist because they are something to enjoy, they are something you can learn from as well. One way I have learned from them is that they made me a better person, which is why I’m a very kind person. Superheroes with powers are something they gain and accept during their amazing adventures with their trusty sidekicks which they meet along the way. From this, I have learned to accept myself while having people support me through my journey. One thing to know about sidekicks is that they are important in superhero stories as they not only are part of the story, but they also give good advice to the main characters. They also help the heroes in their adventures by helping them defeat their archenemies and they support the heroes.
With Superhero night, you can not only enjoy the discussions, movies, and TV shows, you can also use it as an opportunity to make new friends as well. Superheroes have not only taught me to be myself, but they have also taught me how to be more sociable. With superheroes and a lot of support thanks to my family, friends, and Landmark College, I have molded into the amazing person I am today. Superheroes don’t exist in the real world because the real world needs real heroes and anyone who helps one another like we do here at Landmark is without a doubt, a real-life superhero. Located in Davis 002, hosted by me, Jman Erkan, we will have some amazing superhero adventures, if you have any questions, email me at [email protected]. Otherwise, have a super day!
