The Indigenous Community Club (ICC) will host a meeting, this time concerning indigenous history. People from all backgrounds are welcome to join in the discussion. Several indigenous communities and tribes are located throughout North America, Central America, and South America. It is important to honor the culture of each of them. To do this, we must look back at their stories. In Vermont, Native American tribes have existed for over 13,000 years. The Abenaki, one of the most prominent tribes in our state and considered the ‘original Vermonters’, refer to this location as Ndakinna, translating to “homeland” in English. Frybread, a Native American dish consisting of flat dough fried in oil, shortening, or lard, will be served. This event will be held in the coffee house located in the basement of Stone Hall on Sunday, November 3rd. Doors open at 8:00 PM and close at 10:00 PM.
