This week’s Paw Report focuses on Oliver. He is a year and a half old and he is a mix of a couple of different breeds; although it has not been confirmed what all of his mixes are, we know he is an Australian Cattle rescue and a Mountain Cur dog. Oliver is a medium size, has white soft fur with brown spotting around his ears, eyes, and nose, and has a long, fluffy tail. He is one of the few Therapy Dogs on campus who is
partaking in the Canine Good Citizen test (‘CGT’). Oliver’s favorite food is cheese and he loves playing chase with other dogs, as well as interacting with students on campus. According to his owner Scott Schaedler, he benefits from routine and consistency, by seeing the same students each week, from 3 – 5 pm on Thursdays in Lewis 105C. At home, he mainly engages with the same people but he is very social at Landmark; Oliver even taps into how students are feeling by helping them open up, be vulnerable, and regulate their emotions. An interesting (if usual) fact about Oliver is he loves snow so will definitely be out playing in it come the winter months. I had a blast meeting and playing with Oliver and I hope this encourages you to do the same!
