This week’s Paw Report focuses on Gunnar. He is four years old and his breed is a full Bichon Frise. He is a small white dog with soft, fluffy fur, a black button nose, and long shaggy ears. Gunnar’s favorite hobby is eating whipped cream, and he also likes to eat chicken with sweet potato. He also enjoys his ‘after dinner snack’: he plays with a big fabric ball that has treats attached at the bottom, so must root around with his nose to find them, as well as enjoying playing with about any stuffy, squeaky toy. Gunnar has had a spinal injury (by jumping out of a car at too steep of an angle) so is careful when he walks. Although he has since recovered successfully, he hurt his spine and lost his ability to walk in his hind legs; once he came back from surgery, he didn’t realize he was injured so he learned to walk again intuitively. When he wants to go out for a walk, he lets his owners know by hitting his nose on the doorknob, which is a practical, clever, and adorable thing to do! Gunnar is very interactive with students and loves being on campus. If he’s comfortable enough, he will roll over on his back so you can give him belly rubs!
If you want to meet and play with Gunnar, you can visit him from 10 am – 3 pm on Wednesdays in Micheal Luciani’s office in Student Affairs.
