This week’s Paw Report is on Sméagol. Named after the Lord of the Rings character, he is a medium-sized black pug with a black button nose, a very pink tongue, and black fur, with streaks of grey in between. He is eight years old so an ‘elder (or) senior pug’ but still has lots of energy! He loves to play fetch running outside his office but remains well-behaved since he knows when to return home and is a very good boy overall. Sméagol can do a few tricks such as, ‘paw’ (putting his hand on yours), ‘high five’ (touching his paw to yours at a height), and ‘talking’ (barking on command.) 

Although he is active, he follows his owner, Dr. Ware’s, energy throughout the day, so the human/dog telepathy is genuine, they are a self-described ‘unit; when Dr. Ware is working, Sméagol sleeps, and when not, they play together. Sméagol’s favorite food is carrots, he likes them even more than dog treats! (So if you want to bring him a gift, now you know.) He likes to listen to heavy metal music, his favorite is the Swedish band Meshuggah (you will probably hear one of their songs in the background if you visit him.) He likes being outside but doesn’t like the heat; he can’t deal with a temperature above sixty-five Fahrenheit. His best friend is a cat named Jerry Seinfeld and they love spending time together!
